Two years ago, I launched Lil Ridge Riders with Cowboy-the same partner who'd carried me through endurance rides, obstacle courses, trail trials, local trails and the Camp Fire, when we escaped together.
I'm a mom of 5, grandma to 11, still figuring out my bedtime. I believe we're leaders, not bosses; the horse doesn't take orders, just follows trust. Nothing teaches that like watching a 5-year-old ask Penny to stand still and she does-not because he's loud, but because he finally breathed. That's the part I love: when a kid realizes power isn't pulling reins, it's sharing space.
I want kids to leave here with a pocketful of calm-one extra breath before they speak, one steady hand when life's loud. That's the real gift: the horse didn't save them, they just learned how to lead.
Why Lil Ridge Riders Stands Out
Over the past two summers, 22 kids have joined the optional Lil Ridge Riders team for local horse-riding series events-no obligation, all applause. We can't wait to gear up for summer 2026!
